Rug repair - How to sew a blanket stitch to secure your rug fringes!

During Christmas break, I wanted to do something not really related to rug cleaning... so how about rug repair? We went for training few months ago and I always wanted to try. I started to remove all the broken wefts. After few hours, I could start to sew a black blanket stitch as the black is the dominant colour on the rug.

It was quite a lot of work. It took me 4 hours for a 4x6 rug but it was really fun!

Create your own rug and if you need any rug repair, we found Persian Carpet Studio in Suffolk!

We had the pleasure to meet Jo at the Persian Carpet Studio from Suffolk on Friday the 26th of November. http://www.persiancarpetstudio.co.uk/

It was great to see how you can design your own rug and how they repair rugs.
You are able to create your own woven rug. They have got software that does it for you. You choose the design, the fibres (silk, wool...). I really think thi
s is a great idea for Christmas. Jo told us that it takes around 3 weeks to have it done. So this is a great time to do it if you want it for Christmas. The workshop is open to public so we recommend that you stop by! During your visit they will explain how a oriental rug is made on a loom like the one below.
They can repair any type of rug.On Friday the lady was repairing fringes.

The Rug Chapel Story!!

We have been to  Wales  in Llangollen not too long ago and we saw a board! The Rug Chapel!! Great! We love rugs so we thought that it would be a great idea to stop and have a look at this rug. In a chapel, the rug must be antique and beautiful! We were very surprised when we arrived at the chapel and ask to see the rugs. The lady at the reception explained that in Welch, "rug" doesn't mean "rug"! This is a nice little chapel but there is no rug there! We will know next time we go to  Wales  :)

Building a Drying Room for drying clean rugs faster

With winter upon us - we decided to build a specialised drying room for our rug cleaning division. This will enable a much shorter turn around time for rugs to be cleaned.

Our rug cleaning plant currently offers a turn around time of between 2 - 3 weeks. With this special drying room we will be able to turn rugs around in between 1 - 2 weeks - even in the winter.

We have called in the help of Guy-Noel – Laurence’s father from France.

Here are some pictures of what we have done in the past 2 days.

The Art of Rug Cleaning

Cleaning a hand made rug is a art that only a very few can take on and successfully achieve.

We spent a big part of our budget on training and investing in state of the art equipment to achieve the results all of our clients require. We believe in over achieving on every clients expectations. It is always such a rewarding experience to deliver a freshly cleaned rug to a client, unwrap it if front of them and see the happy faces when they see the results.

With this piece on my blog I would like to point out so many of carpet cleaners (even Franchises) call themselves professional rug cleaners - all they do is only apply there knowledge of carpet cleaning to rugs. Sometimes with truly unfortunate outcomes. Many of these cleaners will come and clean your carpets and rug in your home. This leaves your rug/s wet on your floor. The problem here is the likelihood of shrinkage and colour run. Carpets and rugs are two total different animals in every aspect.
